Rulle – Bramsche
Stage 2
The hiking trail from Rulle to Bramsche will take you over the Hünenweg's highest point. You will start your tour at the pilgrimage church, which was famous for the blood miracle of Rulle until the 19th century. Many devout pilgrims have been making their way to the small village, which now belongs to the municipality of Wallenhorst, since the Middle Ages.
Order the 2nd edition of the Hünenweg hiking guide from Conrad Stein Verlag. On 127 pages you will find detailed information about your hike from Osnabrück to Groningen.
You will be accompanied by the river Nette once again at the start of your route out of Rulle. This will take you through meadows and fields to the eastern foothills of the Wiehen Hills and up to the 148-metre-high Schleptruper Egge. From up here, you can enjoy fantastic views of the otherwise comparably flat surrounding countryside.
Your hike will lead you gently downhill to the Osnabrück Canal as well as to the Mittelland Canal. After crossing the canal, you will be greeted with the river Hase once again, which you will have already met at the start of the Hünenweg and whose path you will cross even more frequently on it.
This river played an important role for the town of Bramsche, whose water drove the fulling mills of the Bramsche cloth makers in the 16th century.
From the Hünenweg, you can see what is today the Tuchermachermuseum, which is certainly worth a visit.
