Osnabrück – Rulle
Stage 1
The Hünenweg starts at the 500-year-old town hall in Osnabrück, the site where the end of the Thirty Years' War was proclaimed in 1648. From the heart of the old town, you will hike through narrow streets to the bank of the river Hase.
Order the 2nd edition of the Hünenweg hiking guide from Conrad Stein Verlag. On 127 pages you will find detailed information about your hike from Osnabrück to Groningen.
Running along Osnabrück's former city wall, the Hünenweg will lead you over Erich-Maria Remarque-Ring, the city's most famous citizen who is known for his pacifist novel "All Quiet on the Western Front"
Leave the city centre behind you and hike from here through the Bürgerpark, across the 200-year-old Hasefriedhof cemetery and finally to the next river, the river Nette. You will be accompanied by the Nette for the majority of this stage. Hike through the beautiful Nettetal past watermills as well as a trout farm with freshly smoked fish and visit the Hünenweg's first megalithic complex – the Oestringen Stones.
